Franklin Glassblowing Studio is fun!

A good friend and I recently spent time at a local glassblowing studio which I  had often driven past but never visited.   A Groupon got our attention so we scheduled our “Glassblowing Workshop for Two” at Franklin Glassblowing Studio not knowing a thing about “glassblowing” other than it sounded fun.  We both discovered it is REALLY fun- and easy (provided you have a great teacher/artist beside you guiding you through the process which we did!)  We chose to make a heart paperweight which only involved shaping the extremely hot glass. We started by dipping a ball of clear melted…

Back to School Reflections by Susan Shifay Cheung

I hated going back to school when I was young, so, it’s not surprising to hear my kids groan, as they count down the hours. I’m sure at the start of summer you had good intentions of doing a host of fun and useful things with your kids–impromptu road trips, teaching them how to cook, knit or play chess, building the ultimate Star Wars model out of cardboard and construction paper, mom and daughter manicure and pedicure evenings, and going through any worksheets they’ve missed, so they’re ready to hit the ground running on their first day back. Not Planning ahead Failure to plan just a little bit tends to create a lot of chaos. I don’t even want to guess how many mornings I left the house just praying that everything would fall into line. Truthfully, I can be pretty organized personally. Yet, I get…

Worpress ate my blog…Stormy nights & Monopoly

Well, I talked about this on the Facebook Group a bit…playing Monopoly with my little one on Friday night as it stormed outside was a LOT of fun. Trying to blog about it on Sunday was a bit harder as I had it all written — you know, with all the wit only a mother can muster after a weekend of rain, sunshine, yardsales, extracurricular activities, playdates, laundry, petcare, church activities, & errands. It was even complete with La Adorable Photo. Then….the inevitable happened. “WordPress ate my Blog!” I have harbored a resentment for 36 solid hours. I am now…
