2013 is here!   Honestly, this is one of my favorite times of the year because of the wealth of opportunity that is before us if we choose to grab on.  Be it business, personal, social or even physical health, how exciting to be able to have a new beginning in the middle of the dreariness of winter.   I know many people don’t like New Year Resolutions and find them a bit ridiculous based upon some of the social media comments I’ve come across.

However, I think we sometimes get it backwards.  The significance and  power of New Year Resolutions never lie in the stress and  perception of beginnings, but rather in peace and joy of the endings that can follow

The endings of holding on to aged resentments and old unmet expectations that have been stealing our joy for the past 12 months – or longer.  The ending of the “what ifs” and “I should haves” that we have tended to sabotage ourselves and our potential this past year.   The removing of whatever has preventing us from giving and accepting love to others.    Instead of getting caught up in the anxiety provoking stress of the “I must do’s…”  Let’s sit back and breath a sigh of relief of the “Nah, I don’t have to’s…”

And no, we don’t need one specific day of the year to make a change.  But, we have one coming up in just a few short hours.  I’m grabbing on…are you?

Happy New Year!
