I have been to grad school, managed a staff of other professionals, helped open a couple treatment centers and had the privilege of helping many find emotional breakthroughs and healing. However, when I purchased my new Ipad a few months ago, the first book I downloaded had nothing to do with motherhood, marital therapy, current events or even philosophical reason. No, often the secrets to my sanity as a mom and the words that grab my heart are not penned by Freud, Aaron Beck, Gilbran or even Ghandi. (Which is rather significant since I am quite the nerd.) Instead, they are spoken by a childhood friend and adult hero: Winnie the Pooh.

Why? Because in the middle of my hectic life, it helps to go back to simplicity. To listen to truths that are not cluttered and distracted by adult worries. As a Mom, I need to be reminded of what is important and even invited to slow down taking some time to be with my kids. So as we start a new Monday, here are some of my favorite AA Milne quotes.

“Piglet sidled up to Pooh from behind. “Pooh?” he whispered.
“Yes, Piglet?”
“Nothing,” said Piglet, taking Pooh’s hand. “I just wanted to be sure of you.”
― A.A. Milne, Winnie-the-Pooh

“If ever there is tomorrow when we’re not together… there is something you must always remember. you are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think. But the most important thing is, even if we’re apart… I’ll always be with you.”
― A.A. Milne

“How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.”
― A.A. Milne, Winnie-the-Pooh

“Sometimes,’ said Pooh, ‘the smallest things take up the most room in your heart.”
― A.A. Milne

Happy Monday!
